AI for Complex Enterprise Knowledge: MAIA closes funding round of more than €4 million

Leipzig-based startup Prodlane is entering its next phase of growth with MAIA: TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and SBG - Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH are expanding their commitment through follow-on financing. MAIA began its journey with our Summer School for Diverse Startups, continued at HHL Digital Space, and later joined the SpinLab acceleration program.

The startup brings artificial intelligence to where companies' technical knowledge resides. The valuable know-how of technical companies grows over many years, but is scattered across countless documents and systems. MAIA's AI software consolidates this knowledge and makes it available to employees within seconds, in compliance with data protection requirements. Time-consuming research gives way to sound decisions and precise, traceable answers. This enables accumulated knowledge to finally keep pace with the speed of modern work.

Almost two years after the first joint investment, TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen is increasing its commitment to MAIA (Prodlane GmbH) and is leading the current round. The reason: the knowledge accumulated over many years in technical companies is enormously valuable, yet barely accessible in day-to-day work. In industrial companies, critical knowledge is contained in thousands of product manuals, design documents, operating instructions, test and validation reports, data sheets, standards and project reports, spread across numerous systems and therefore difficult to access. It is not only vast, but also highly complex and deeply specialised. MAIA has been designed precisely for this. It unlocks these knowledge repositories, captures technically demanding relationships and becomes a sparring partner for specialists solving complex tasks. Instead of time-consuming manual work, teams in development, engineering and maintenance can reach sound decisions faster - especially where shortages of skilled workers and pressure to innovate are most acute.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools, MAIA is built for complex technical knowledge and understands it in depth. MAIA does not analyse documents superficially; it captures their structure, metadata and context. A bill of materials is interpreted differently from a test instruction, complex tables and technical drawings are understood, and relationships between documents become visible across system boundaries.

Where decisions must be substantiated, reliability is essential. Every answer is verified against its sources in several stages. MAIA shows transparently what can be relied on, what is an inference and where sources contradict one another. For particularly demanding questions, MAIA combines several specialised solution paths and selects the best answer. The ambition behind this is clear: answers at the level of the most experienced expert in the company.

Using Knowledge Efficiently

"Every company has people who have known every project, every deviation and every workaround for decades. When that person leaves, the knowledge leaves with them. MAIA does not replace this experience; it makes it explicit step by step and available to the entire team. In this way, we want to change how companies work with their knowledge: away from lengthy research and the inertia of structures that have evolved over time, towards knowledge that is available at the right moment," explains Carolin Maier, CEO and Co-Founder of MAIA.

Strong Investor Network for Further Growth

The round is once again led by TGFS. SBG - Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is participating for the first time under the Innovationskapital Sachsen (RIG) programme. With the capital, MAIA will expand its development, sales and marketing teams and drive further growth across the DACH region.

"The DACH region is under enormous pressure to innovate and compete, while skilled workers are in short supply everywhere. To succeed, companies must finally make consistent use of the knowledge they already have. MAIA enables exactly that, with a clear focus and high-quality answers. That is why we are investing again and supporting the company in its next phase of growth," says Sören Schuster, Managing Director of TGFS.
