About the Smart Infrastructure Challenge

The Smart Infrastructure Challenge - Low-emission Products (Liquids, Gases) offers startups and scale-ups the chance to work directly with our company partners ExxonMobil, Equinor, K+S, and Ontras on real-world projects in hydrogen, lower emission fuels and infrastructure innovation. We’re seeking solutions across several sub-challenges (see below). Apply to implement and develop your solutions alongside these global players.

Topic 2: Construction, Proptech and Infrastructure digitalization
The main goal is to present processes and business models/innovations for generating and implementing lower-emission products at scale.
  • Modular construction
    Digital twin in industry settings
     Construction documentation
    Construction materials and methods
 Related fields might be:
  •   Manufacturing innovation
  •   Smart city solutions
Topic 3: Advanced alternative finished products and drop-in capable intermediates
The main goal is to showcase processes and business models/innovations for generating and applying lower-emission products at scale.
  • Advanced, scalable, and accessible feedstocks (e.g. bio fuels)
  • Highly-efficient novel conversion processes (step-skipping, process intensification etc.)
  • Dispatching ready intermediates for downstream processing or direct use (e.g. hydrogen carriers: Ammonia/Methanol etc.)
  •  Lower emission commodity products (fuels, chemicals etc.)

Topic 4: Circularity and emission tracking

The main goal is to present solutions that support a more sustainable operation and transformation of infrastructure by reducing emissions and increasing circularity.

  • Corrosion Monitoring and Leakage detection, protection & simulation

  • Carbon capture, utilization and storage

Application requirements

  • Startups & Scale-ups solving one or more sub-challenges with our company partners.
  • Open to global applicants with relevant projects or references.
  • In-person pitch on the Demo Day required on June 18 in Leipzig (Germany).
