This week, SpinLab - The HHL Accelerator has officially partnered up with Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG (LEAG) to further deepen the accelerator’s focus on the energy sector. On Wednesday, 13 March 2019, Managing Director and Co-founder of SpinLab, Dr. Eric Weber, and LEAG's CEO Dr. Helmar Rendez signed the contract for a innovation partnership. The SpinLab is happy to welcome LEAG as a new partner of its renowned accelerator program.

In the future, LEAG will also rely on cooperation with startups when developing new business areas. Therefore, the energy company sees great potential in direct access to startups, new technologies and innovation in the energy sector. “We are currently on our way to exploring new business areas beyond our core business of producing and generating electricity from lignite and making them economically viable. Our planned BigBattery Lausitz, one of Europe's largest battery power storage systems to date with intelligent, flexible connections to the power grid, is just one example”, Dr. Helmar Rendez, CEO of LEAG, explains. “That's why it makes sense for us to participate directly in the discussion on the latest technological challenges together with young, creative minds in order to possibly also foster cooperation and pilot projects between startups and LEAG.”

Dr. Eric Weber, Managing Director and Co-Founder of SpinLab, says: “With LEAG, another strong company from the region is committed to startups and benefits from the application of innovative technologies.” LEAG enriches SpinLabs’s large and strong portfolio of partners with high market expertise and market access which helps the startups to create and grow innovative businesses.
