SpinLab alumni startup Flynex secures millions of euros to fuel its growth

Oct 12, 2021 6:03:31 PM

FlyNex recently closed another financing round worth millions of euros to develop new business areas and expand its current business. Stihl Digital, the venture capital arm of the well-known power and garden equipment manufacturer, is investing in FlyNex together with High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS), GPS Ventures and Snowflake Ventures. The newly formed partnership is intended to support customers in forestry, gardening and landscaping in particular with data generated by drones.

By far, FlyNex is the most widely used software solution for commercial drone projects in Europe. The innovative technology covers the entire commercial application range for data acquisition by unmanned aerial systems via its cloud platform. Companies can thus integrate drones into their processes with just a few clicks and, for example, reduce inspection costs by up to 90 percent. Founded in 2015, FlyNex is successfully used as a drone management solution by several major businesses in the construction, real estate, energy, and aviation industries. In addition, FlyNex participates in Europe-wide innovation projects for the successful integration of drones, such as for medical transport, smart air traffic management, or air cab navigation.

From Hamburg to Leipzig

In 2017, the founders moved from Hamburg to Leipzig and were part of the 5th SpinLab class. The team benefited in Leipzig from a strong funding scene and access to pilot projects with well-known companies. The EnviaM Group (SpinLab partner) is a leading regional energy service provider in Germany. With our Startup Alumni FlyNex, 20 kilometers of power lines and power towers belonging to EnviaM are now automatically inspected by aerial drones. FlyNex is now not only in demand nationally, but also internationally. In addition to Leipzig, the startup has locations in Hamburg and San Francisco, with a total of 30 employees.

“SpinLab was the right accelerator in our early-stage phase. Six good months of intensive coaching and workshops have brought us forward in a variety of topics, as has the exchange with other start-ups. The network of investors and partners is really first-class and was one of the reasons to move our headquarters to Leipzig. Keep it up." - Michael Petrosjan, Co-Founder - FlyNex GmbH

Are you a startup that needs funding support and wants to partner with companies like FlyNex? Then apply now for the next SpinLab class. The application closes on November 16.2021.
